Performance horses are the athletes of the equine world. Whether they
are a roping horse generating bursts of speed followed by a quick stop
or a 3-day eventer competing in the triathlon of equine sporting,
performance horses are subjected to tremendous levels of stress and
strain to their legs, joints and hoofs. They must be shod appropriately.
Coast Farrier Service understands that at this level your horse is more
than a pleasure horse; it is a competitive athlete who may be competing
at the professional or semiprofessional level. We understand that you

years developing your horse to arrive at the level you
are at or that you have invested considerable time and money in a
younger prospect. In either case, injury prevention is key. Coast
Farrier Service also realizes that many performance horses are used for
more than one event and whether it is an eventer competing in dressage,
cross country and stadium jumping or a roping horse used one day for
heading and the next day for calf roping, we will develop a shoeing
program that best suits your horse’s performance events, individual
needs and schedule. We will work closely with you, your trainer, your
rider and your veterinarian to develop a shoeing schedule to match your
demanding training and show schedule, help ensure the longevity of your
horse and comply with the rules and regulations of the USEF or other
regulatory body.
